Feeling Fruity

I am sooo sorry I havn't posted in so long, I have been so busy, but I promise I will be updating my blog much more often :)

Anyway, inspired by summer fruity vibes and bright colours, I decided to do a beauty / fashion illustration series featuring some of my fav summer fruits; lemon, watermelon and pineapple.
Hope you like them!
I used my usual pencil and watercolour for all these and the originals and prints are available for purchase in my etsy store - https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AnnabelleKingg

If your following me on instagram you'll probably be thinking, this is SUCH a late post - which it is. But, you'll also know that I've recently been away holidaying in Turkey so I guess I have a good excuse to why I havn't been posting ;) Haha!

Expect a few more posts following this one including one about my home from home, Turkey :)

Zimmermann Resort 2015

Zimmermann's collections are usually stunning but this collection has to be my favorite so far. Zimmermann's luxe beachwear designs make me so much more excited for summer, the lacy cutwork, subtle florals, and stunning structured swimwear - which in my opinion is way too pretty to wear to the beach!

Anyway, I hope you like my illustration, the lace honestly took ages!

Here are some of my faves from the collection;

The day I met BEYONCE!

AHHH I know this is a bit late, but because I've been away I have a huge backlog of work, photos and events etc to blog about, but obviously THIS is the most important of all...I MET BEYONCE.

I don't think I'll ever be able to believe those words.

Two days before I went away, I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Mrs Carter Show World Tour at the o2 in London plus early entry, ensuring I could get as close to the most amazing, beautiful and inspiring human on earth, Beyonce.

So after about 8 hours of queueing, (yes...eight hours) we were finally let in to the arena and we got so close to the stage, I knew it was going to be an amazing show, but I had NO idea what would happen next.
I held out my huge beyonce banner with both my beyonce drawings on it, you can see the image that was on the banner below.
It was such an incredible atmosphere, being around hundreds of people who share the same love for beyonce and her music - there was nothing like it!
Anyway, during her song "Irreplaceable", she walked through the audience singing with fans, holding their hands, making their dreams come true and then she came over to me.
She took my hand, stopped singing and pointed at my drawings saying, "that's beautiful" and asked "did you actually draw this?" and I just nodded frantically, I must have looked an absolute starstruck sweaty mess! She then said "Wow its so pretty, you got me distracted!"
DISTRACTED, my drawings actually distracted beyonce from her performance. I don't think i will EVER get over that.
People have been sending me loads of their photos and videos that they took of the moment beyonce speaks to me, which i am SO happy about, you can see them below!

Here is the image of my two beyonce drawings merged together that I printed on the banner,

These photos are screen shots from a video someone sent me of her taking my hand:

One of the only photos I took personally, my phone packed up due to all the craziness! -

We made friends with people who were next to us in the queue and they sent these to me of her looking at me in the eyes, talking to me and her pointing at my banner -

Seychelles!

So I just got home from 2 and a half weeks in the Seychelles and I can honestly say its as close to paradise as anyone could ever imagine.
The opportunity to go arose when my friend, who is from there and has property there, asked me if i'd like to go with her - There was no way I was going to say no!
We lived like the locals, drinking coconuts and Takamaka rum, making friends with the local tortoises, exploring different islands, snorkling, watching the sunset and sunrise...just to name a few!
Anyway these are just a few of the many photos I took whilst on holiday, because I think I took a photo of just about everything!

Zimmermann Autmn Winter 2014 Fashion Illustration

I loved everything about Zimmermann's Autumn Winter 2014 collection and not just because it is their second ever runway show in new york, but that it was just beautifully together, the pieces are so intricate and modern but I feel that some of the looks hint at an influence from the Victorian era.
I'm a sucker for the details, from the patent black shoes to the cute little bow neck pieces, even the slicked back hair and the deep Burgundy lipstick all add to this modern, vintage look - which  I LOVE!
Anyway I particularly liked the chunky knit jumper dress which is why i had to illustrate it - I completed it using my favorites; pencil and watercolour.
I hope you like! It took quite a while to draw all the little bobbles but was definitely worth it!

Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring Summer '14

Zuhair Murad
Spring Summer 2014
Haute Couture
By Annabelle King

Couture fashion week is the best time of the year for me! - if only i were lucky enough to go and see the collections myself in pairs...but i guess the closest i am going to get to them is to stream them live online...
:(
Zuhair Murad is in my opinion THE, if not one of the most amazing designers of all time and he never fails to amaze me! Whilst watching the show I was swept away to a wonderful land filled with lace, embroidery, gold and sparkle, I wanted the collection to go on forever!
I have never seen such an exquisite collection and i seriously want to illustrate every piece, but unfortunately i don't have the time...
But anyway, I chose probably one of the hardest designs to illustrate, but I definitely think it was worth it - I used pencil for the main part of the piece and then metallic gold paint for the beautiful belt.

Liquid GOLD

 Liquid Gold
By Annabelle King

A few months back I came across the most beautiful editorial shot by Sandro Baebler for Fashion Gone Rogue that features stunning gowns by one of my favourite designers, Alexander McQueen.
So I went ahead and asked Sandro Baebler if I could have the pleasure of illustrating this editorial, to which he said yes!
The images are so romantic and decadent, they actually took my breath away.
With hints of gold throughout the spread, I thought I would make a feature of the gold in my illustration by using metallic paint and who doesn't love a bit of gold?!

Here are a few images from the editorial but make sure you check out the full editorial on fashiongonerogue.com!
